How many tiles do you have in stock?
We are a manufacturer of stainless steel tiles, and are in constant production. Our products are manufactured in Metuchen, New Jersey.
How are your tiles priced? Is there a minimum order requirement?
Our tiles are priced per tile. To estimate how many tiles you need for your installation, please see our Tile Calculator page by clicking here. There is no minimum order requirement.
Do your stainless steel tiles match stainless steel appliances?
Yes, they match stainless steel appliances. The brushed (satin) finish is the finish on most stainless steel appliances.
What types of material finishes do you offer?
Please click here for a description of the types of finishes that we offer.
How do I install your tiles?
Our tiles are installed similarly to ceramic tiles.  Please see our Installation Guide for further details.
How do I cut your tiles?
Please click here to for an explanation.
If the tile edges are exposed, how do I finish them off?
We manufacture several different finishing trims. For example, the most typical trim used to finish off the edges of the tile is our J-trim. The type of J-trim you use is based upon the backing of the tile. The J-trim must be installed prior to installing the tile. We also offer a universal edging trim that can be used with any of our tile types. In addition, we offer several types of corner trims, designed for both inside and outside corners. Furthermore, we are able to manufacture custom trims based upon your specifications. Please visit our custom trim page or contact us.
How do I adhere your tiles to the wall?
We recommend that our Surface Mount and Hardboard backed tiles are adhered to the wall with PL Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive.  The Fiberock backed tiles can be adhered to the wall with traditional tile thinset mortar. Please see our Installation Guide for further details.
What types of surfaces can I install your tiles on?

Our fiberock backed tiles can be installed with thinset mortar, mastic or PL Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive. Our surface mount tiles must be installed with PL Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive. Double-sided tape pads can be used to assist the installation. We recommend that you use PL Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive to install our Hardboard backed tiles, but you may also use Liquid Nails or Powergrab.

PL Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive will bond with the following substrates:
- Wood, metal, OSB, drywall
- Stone, masonry concrete, bricks
- Vinyl, plastics
- Foam
- Sub-floor, construction joints

How much adhesive do I need?
The 10.2 oz. tube adheres approximately 15 sq. ft. of tiles (e.g., 135 4" x 4" tiles, 60 6" x 6" tiles, etc.).
Do I have to grout?
You can install our tiles without grout lines. You may, however, choose to have grout lines or to seal the tiles with nonsanded grout.
How much should I expect to pay for shipping?
If you would like to estimate your shipping cost prior to placing an order, simply add the tiles that you are interested in ordering to your basket.  Then, select your country and enter your zip code. Please note that international shipments will also incur a brokerage fee in addition to any duties and taxes, which varies based upon the carrier chosen and the value of your order. Please see our international page at http://www.metaltileco.com/international.php for additional information. Please also visit http://www.usps.com and http://www.ups.com for carrier specific information.
When will my order be shipped?

Once my order is shipped, how long will it take to get to me?
Please see above for our estimated processing times. Once your order has left our warehouse, you will receive a tracking number via email.
Will your stainless steel tiles rust?
No. Our tiles are manufactured from 304 stainless steel which does not rust and is non-magnetic. Please visit our Material Information page, which explains why the grade of stainless steel is important and what to look for when you purchase stainless steel products to ensure that they do not rust.
Will a magnet stick to your tiles?
No. Please visit our Material Information page for further information.
What is the actual size of each of your tiles?
Our tiles are the sizes as described. In other words, for example, our 4" x 4" tile measures 4" x 4". The tolerance is plus/minus 1/64".
How thick are your tiles?
Our tiles are manufactured from 22 ga. stainless steel, which is 0.032" thick.  They have a raised 1/8" face and an overall thickness of approximately 1/8". Our tiles with a Hardboard backing have an overall thickness of 1/4" and our tiles with a Fiberock® backing have an overall thickness of 3/8".
What is the difference between your Surface Mount, Hardboard and Fiberock® backed tiles?
For a detailed description of our tile types, please visit our Tile Backing Descriptions page, which can be accessed by clicking here.
Which tiles do I purchase to achieve an alternating grain orientation?
You can view an illustration that assists in explaining how to achieve the effect by clicking here. A photo showing which tiles are horiztonal and which are vertical is provided here. Square tiles with the same brushed material finish (e.g., brushed stainless, brushed copper, etc.) are used to achieve the alternating grain orientation (e.g., 4" x 4", 4 1/4 x 4 1/4", 6" x 6", etc.). They are installed with each adjacent tile being turned 90 degrees so that the grain creates a checkerboard effect.
What is the difference between tiles that contain a horizontal grain line and those that contain a vertical grain line?
You can view an illustration of the difference by clicking here. Tiles that contain a horizontal grain have a grain that is parallel to the long axis of the tile. Tiles with a vertical grain have a grain that is parallel to the short axis of the tile. You can change the grain orientation on our square tiles by simply rotating the tiles 90 degrees (see next question).
Are your tiles solid metal?
Yes, our stainless steel tiles are manufactured from 22 gauge (.032”) stainless steel with a #4 polish (brushed finish). Our aluminum tiles are manufactured from 5052 0.040" aluminum.
Are your tiles flat?
Our surface mount wall tiles have an 1/8" raised surface. Our Hardboard backed tiles have an overall thickness of 1/4" and our Fiberock® backed tiles are 3/8" thick. Our floor tiles are flat.
Do you sell stainless steel countertops or other custom home decor or commercial stainless steel products?
Yes, please contact us for additional information.
